Geography at Ingleby Mill
Geography is an integral subject that allows children to understand the world around them. As such, we aim to ensure that children understand the major physical and human elements of places in the locality, regions around the UK and countries of the world. They build on prior learning by placing Ingleby Barwick, Stockton-on-Tees and the North East at the heart of what they study, making comparisons to what they’ve learnt previously to help contextualise both the old learning and the new. Children will engage in geographical activities using maps, atlases, Geographic Information Systems, fieldwork and much more to learn both the substantive and disciplinary knowledge that they need to help understand the world they inhabit.
Our aim is for the children to develop a lifelong passion for geography that sees them discover and learn about interesting and exciting places around the world, expanding their horizons and filling them with wonder at what our beautiful planet contains.
